Embed a badge on your site
Show a country's score out of 100 and its band, or a US state's key answers, on any page. Each badge links back to the source page, gives the date of the data and carries the credit the license asks for. Badges cover 198 countries and territories, with data as of October 2, 2026, and the 50 states and DC. Each state badge gives the date its laws were read.
Badges are free under CC BY 4.0, with no sign-up and no key. Keep the credit line, "SuperTruth Health Record Rights Index, CC BY 4.0", where people can see it. There is no state score or rank, so a state badge shows answers, not a number.

A live card (iframe)
Best for a web page you control.
<iframe src="https://healthrecordrights.com/embed/country/FIN/" width="320" height="248" style="border:0;max-width:100%" title="Finland on the Health Record Rights Index" loading="lazy"></iframe>
A picture (SVG)
One file, sharp at any size, with the alt text filled in. Works where iframes do not, such as many site builders.
<a href="https://healthrecordrights.com/brief/FIN/"><img src="https://healthrecordrights.com/embed/country/FIN/badge.svg" width="320" height="196" alt="Finland: 71 out of 100, Strong; the typical country scores 39. Data as of October 2, 2026. SuperTruth Health Record Rights Index, CC BY 4.0."></a>
A picture (PNG)
For email, slides and anywhere SVG is not allowed.
<a href="https://healthrecordrights.com/brief/FIN/"><img src="https://healthrecordrights.com/embed/country/FIN/badge.png" width="320" height="196" alt="Finland: 71 out of 100, Strong; the typical country scores 39. Data as of October 2, 2026. SuperTruth Health Record Rights Index, CC BY 4.0."></a>
To try a live card, open your page from a web server: browsers do not let a page opened from a file on your computer frame another site. The pictures work either way.
You can also type the address yourself: three letters for a country (https://healthrecordrights.com/embed/country/FIN/), two for a state or DC (https://healthrecordrights.com/embed/state/CA/). The same pattern gives badge.svg and badge.png.
A state badge, for example California
The frame is 480 pixels tall so the card fits in a narrow column, where its answers wrap onto more lines.
<iframe src="https://healthrecordrights.com/embed/state/CA/" width="400" height="480" style="border:0;max-width:100%" title="California: what its law adds to HIPAA, Health Record Rights Index" loading="lazy"></iframe>
The rules, in short
- Keep the credit line and the link back. CC BY 4.0 also asks you to say if you changed anything.
- Please do not change the score or the band, and do not add a rank to a state. If you show a rank for a country, give its likely range from the brief, because scores move in steps of about 5 points. The countries at the top are a lead group: do not call one of them first, best or top.
- Badges are a summary. The brief or the state page has the sources for every answer.
- Every badge loads from our site, so it changes when the data changes. A reader may see the old version for up to an hour after we publish.
More for developers: the data API and MCP server. For reporters: the press kit.
